Glossary: Bill vs. Invoice?

Hi,

as a dumb translator I have to ask: What is the difference between a
'bill' and an 'invoice'? Trivially I would come up with identical
translations for both, but I guess that this is not intended. So please
explain to me the difference between both...

In the glossary, I've defined both as:

bill - "a written statement of money owed for goods or services supplied"

invoice - "A list of goods sold or services provided together with the
prices charged; a bill"

and again, with these definitions I would definitely translate both into
German as "Rechnung" i.e. with the same word.
