When I copied my 1.8 branch CVS sources to get HEAD, I had to execute 'make
maintainer-clean' to get HEAD to compile right. You could also try 'make
distclean' first, though, and see if that makes a difference.
Or wait for someone who knows what they're doing to give you more learned
advice ;-)
