running in the source tree

Feel free to submit a patch.

Personally, I just always run out of an install dir -- I don't
consider it a major hastle.  I just add /opt/gnucash-cvs/bin to my
patch and viola, it all works.  Sure, it takes bit more time to
iterate through the fix/build/test cycle, but it works fine for me.
