FTR here roland, the above install-info command is taken straight from
the official redhat rpm spec file for gnucash. This is not the problem
you're having.
I'm probably gonna give you an answer here you may not like, but you're
the second person I've seen with problems stemming from an 'upgraded'
7.2 system. I may be wrong about what you're done here, but I'm assuming
that when you found you couldn't get things to work on RH 7.2 you did an
upgrade to 8.0 instead of a clean install of 8.0. The problem with this
approach is if things are broken on your 7.2 system, you may well retain
some of the brokenness in your upgrade.
My suggestion if this is in fact what you did is to do a clean RH 8.0
install and then try again. If I'm wrong about this and you are running
from a clean install I'd like some more particular information about how
you tried to rebuild things. (This goes if you reinstall and still have
problems too);
What command line did you use to rebuild the rpm?
If you go to the SPEC file directory and run it there does it have the
same problem? (and vice versa, if you ran --rebuild)
Are you certain you have all the required -devel packages installed?
Do you have g-wrap and g-wrap-devel 1.3.4 installed? (RH8 comes with
1.3.2)
Can you run the binary rpm's from the gnucash site ok? (Make sure you
get the RH8 ones and not the ones in the redhat-7.x folder)
In short, the more info you can give about what you did to get the
result you got the better.
