gnucash crash

Are you actually running gnucash inside of gnome, or are you running another 
environment?

I run KDE on Gentoo and I've found I have to launch gconfd manually before 
launching gnucash.  (I'm sure there's some magic to fix this, but for the 
time being, I'm just living with it.)
