g_return

Can someone help me find out why my g_return statements are no longer printing
messages to the terminal?

I'm getting errors from the rest of GnuCash (if I force the error, it tests OK
otherwise) but when I'm testing my merge code (deliberately trying to
generate errors), I'm not getting the messages that I would expect, just
another seg fault.
:-(

I've used --enable-debug in autogen but I figure I've missed something in the
code. Is a define needed for g_return messages to be seen?

(I'm using g_return_if_fail, g_return_val_if_fail as appropriate.)

I've got two example programs now, the newest one is the first to take genuine
GnuCash objects.
