Hi,

I just wanted to let you know that I've installed activitymail[0]
on the CVS server to email out commit log email messages. A few
things you should know about this:

1) instead of sending out an email per directory, it sends out one
email per commit. This should greatly reduce the amount of
email clutter on the -patches mailing list. This also means that
you should try to combine multiple files/directories into a single
commit instead of committing them separately.

2) It uses your first sentence (or up to 72 characters) as the subject
of the email. This means that you should change how you log your
commits. In particular, you should try to make a primary, short,
single-sentence summary of the commit, and then go into detail.
Note that it uses a period to denote end of sentence, so your
sentence CAN run over multiple lines. This also means that if you
neglect your sentence-ending period it will continue into the rest
of your comments when building the subject line.

3) There is a new list, gnucash-changes[1], which not only gets the
commit log messages but ALSO gets diffs with each commit. So, if
you want to see what everyone is changing you can subscribe[2] to
the -changes list. Note that if you're on both patches and changes
you WILL get two emails for every commit.

That's all for now. Enjoy the new service. Please let me
know if you have any questions, comments, or issues.
