AC_INIT(gnucash, 1.99.0,

AM_INIT_AUTOMAKE(AC_PACKAGE_NAME, AC_PACKAGE_VERSION)
So, yes, I think you need to change this in addition to GNUCASH_MICRO_VERSION.
