SEGV during file IO

I'm working in a tree that was just updated at about 5:30 this
afternoon, and I do not see any problems.  I tested with both my
"gcc3/FC3 lib" and "gcc4/FC4 lib" builds.  Have you tried a 'make
distclean; make' sequence?
