Reconciling/postponing ?

That's correct.

You assume incorrectly.

First, you never need to reconcile Income/Expense accounts, only Asset and
Liability accounts.

Second, imagine a transaction where you pay your credit card.  Just because
you clear the bank account doesn't mean you should clear the credit card
account.
