2.0.0 compile hangs

Oh..  Interesting..  How much do you know about shell programming?
The script is fairly straightforward.  It would be interesting to
know what part of it hangs.  Could you try:

  sh -x ./utils/gnc-svnversion .

Maybe that will help figure out where it's hanging?
