As an alternative to gtranslator, KBabel does support these plurals nicely. If 
you don't fancy using emacs for translation, kbabel is worth a try. Just 
spend some time with it using some smaller files to get used to setting the 
correct project configuration and check the Edit->Edit Header output to make 
sure it's similar to the existing svn. Also, moderate some of the options to 
update various elements at save time - less is more when working with files 
already edited using a variety of tools.
