Help in compiling 1.8.X on Dapper

Hi Guys,

Am wondering if anyone out there knows how to build/compile gnucash
1.8.X (where X is <= 9), on a Ubuntu/Dapper system .

I did the following

apt-get build-dep gnucash
autogen.sh  --disable-error-on-warning --prefix /opt/unstable/1.8.9
--enable-opt-style-install
make
sudo make install
/opt/unstable/1.8.9/bin/gnucash
--> /usr/bin/guile: symbol lookup
error: /opt/unstable/1.8.9//lib/gnucash/libgw-business-core.so.0:
undefined symbol: gncOwnerCreate
And GnuCash crashes after this, this is on the loading of gnucash.


I get this for 1.8.4, 1.8.5, 1.8.9, but 1.8.10 works fine.

I googled a bit, and found the following:

1.8.10 worked fine directly from subversion.

I also tried to download/compile 1.8.9 (or 5) on a old Warty system from 2004-11, but same problem.

If anyone has any hints/tips, I would be very happy camper.
