Except for SQLite I don't have a strong opinion about DSN setup.
However, for SQLite I think Gnucash needs to control the whole
interaction and be able to "force" GDA to use SQLite.  We (read: I)
want the SQLite backend to replace the XML-File backend and "become"
the new "File Backend"...
