Online Banking and Compilation Woes

Hi folks,
So I went to do some year end accounting today, and one of my online
banking connections that worked a month ago was no longer functioning.
After a lot of fiddling it appeared that the issue had been resolved in
libofx 1.9. Rather than being a smart man, and just upgrading libofx, I
decided I would upgrade aqbanking and gnucash as well. Silly, silly
me. Six hours later I don't even have something I can execute, much
less something that will talk to my bank again.

   Some questions:
    (1) The function signatures changed between the 2.x aqbanking and
the 3.x aqbanking package. Looks like there is a GUID that needs to be
passed around. Has anyone looked at supporting 3.x in GnuCash?

    (2) SLIB and Guile seem to be at odds with each other on Ubuntu
Feisty. (7.10) I've reviewed bug #347922 in which Derick says most major
distributions have this solved, but just having SLIB 3a4 and Guile 1.8.1
from the standard packages doesn't seem to do it. Perhaps I've screwed
something up. Any tips?
