I've got a successful git build of WebKit from 23 October, which is 1.1.15 something. It has some "adjustments", but I can turn those into a patch to run against the current release if you decide to stick with it for another round.
Webkit seems to work well enough, once I got all of the right bits in the bundle. I haven't done any testing of a Webkit build vs. a GtkHtml one to see if one is significantly faster than the other. It does force Leopard, and since I haven't gotten cross-compiling to work and my PPC box is on Tiger, I can't build a PPC version with Webkit. I haven't heard any complaints about that.
