thank you for this update and the second update as well. I've committed your
second update into our SVN so that it will be included in the next release and
also in the next nightly windows build.

I think fa.po is probably just fine. The rule for the po files is as follows:
If there is only translation per language, it is named by only the language
code ("fa" in your case) without the country suffix ("IR" in your case). Only
if there is more than one translation for one language and the difference
being the country-specific translations, the country code is added as the
suffix. You can see this in the po/ directory: We have pt.po for general
Portugese but additional pt_BR.po for Brazilian portugese. All other
portugese-speaking countries (i.e. everything except Brazil here) will use the
pt.po, whereas only Brazil will use pt_BR.po. Hence, I suggest we should stick
with fa.po.
One additional suggestion for you: The first approx. 20 lines of the fa.po
file contains the header information (right after msgid "" and Project-Id-
Version), which you should edit according to your language and name. For an
example see e.g.

I'm afraid this is quite a difficult task, as several parts throughout gnucash
have to be updated in order to support the Jalali calendar system as well.
Gnucash's native GUI toolkit is gtk, but their calendar data type "GDate"
specifically only supports Gregorian calendar. By some googling, I didn't
found any C source code which could easily be adapted to implement a
conversion of (Gregorian) GDate into Jalali calendar. Even if we found code
that implements the conversion itself, we would still have to adapt all places
throughout gnucash which convert a GDate into a string or construct it from
string... And the most difficult part of this would be to (re-)write the
display widget which you get when you click on the little button right next to
the date.
It seems KDE has some useful implementation of the Jalali calendar,
http://www.layt.net/john/blog/odysseus/jalali_calendar_updated but this will
be C++ and thus not readily useful for us... The calendar feature is a
difficult one.
