I should have explicitly registered my agreement with Phil about focusing on
getting 2.4 out. It's just over a year since 2.2.9 was released. While I
don't think that's excessive given the nature of the project and the fact
that the database back-end is a big deal, I think with some focused effort
on QA and bug-fixing, it can be ready for release in the near future. I
think now is exactly the wrong time to get into an attention-diverting
debate about languages and tools. That can and should wait, in my opinion,
until 2.4 is released and known to be stable.
