precious metals or other commodities

is there a way to keep track of values of precious metals or other
commodoties which change in monetary value over time?  i have some
silver coins and kind of wanted to keep track of their values in
gnucash, and have it part of my 'current assets' or something.  i
realize i will probably have to edit the monetary value as i notice it
change.  is something like that possible?  how would it be set up?  thanks
