Compiling GnuCash on Windows

Hi David,

Yes, I am following the instructions for an almost automated 
build but it is worth pointing out that those instructions are outdated.

You will need an SVN client such as TortoiseSVN.
Google it and download the latest setup file. I believe the organization maintaining it is
Collabnet.

Install it. It also has a windows shell extension, so you can execute svn commands by right-clicking any where on your Desktop or in any folder.

Right-click on your desktop or the folder you want to checkout the source to, 

select SVN Checkout...

In the dialog that appears, ensure that Url of respository: is set to
http://svn.gnucash.org/repo/gnucash/trunk/packaging/win32/

and
Checkout Directory:
is set to
C:\soft\packaging\win32
or whatever the path is on your machine.

also benefit from the response.

I've never used SVN so I'm not sure how to proceed past this first step
which rather limits me at the moment :-(

Any other pointers would be appreciated.

I am having issues with compiling gnucash on windows.
I am compiling on windows 7.
I have successfully installed MSYS and MingW and the build process is still
in the process of downloading all the prerequisites.

It stalls at the section for Active Perl, when it tries to download Active
Perl (.zip) format The link is broken and the latest versions of active perl
for windows are in .msi format, which cannot be unpacked in MSYS.

This line in the default.sh script is the faulty line.

I even tried using 7-zip to unpack the latest .msi of active perl and
re-archive it as .zip but that didn't work.

set_default ACTIVE_PERL_URL
"http://downloads.activestate.com/ActivePerl/releases/5.10.1.1007/ActivePerl
-5.10.1.1007-MSWin32-x86-291969.zip"
