Is there a step-by-step, "How to setup a MySQL database for use with GnuCash"?

Hi!

I don't know if I should ask this in a different forum, but I've experimented with GnuCash for several years, but recently wanted to just use the MySQL database for my finances and GnuCash can never read them. It can create a database which I can read from the MySQL commandline interface, but GnuCash simply hangs when I try doing it from it.

I've looked at the log files and seem to recall there is some record it doesn't like. It does complain that it cannot obtain a lock. I am just learning MySQL and have no problem using it with LAMP or Windows AMP web server apps which I've customized to track my bills and I'd like to reconcile my bills against my financial accounts.

I've tried the latest GnuCash built for Windows under Windows 7 and am using the latest 64-bit MySQL from Oracle. I assumed there would be no problem due to 32-bit vs. 64-bit apps since the transactions were using well-defined format data objects at the API level. (I wanted to build GnuCash from source for debugging purposes, but gave up. I just don't have time with my lifestyle interfering.) I was hoping it was something easy to fix that someone who's done this with a similar environment can explain.

Thank you,
Art
