The Android icon ( which will be replaced with the Gnucash icon) does not
do anything for now. But it will be able to take you back one screen when
implemented. So for the alpha release, that is expected behaviour.

Right now, if you use the (hardware or software) back button, you should be
able to go back to the accounts list and create new accounts. If you still
cannot go back to the accounts screen, then please let me know.

Excellent idea. I will rename the fields to match.
As for the debit and credit names, I think the color coding and the
negative sign immediately explain to users what the difference is.
