Yes, I started from my own remote spec, which is for read-write access. I made a typo altering it
to a read-only access url.

I have pushed this fix to my repository.
Note that the mingw-rebasing branch -well- rebases frequently. So to pull in the latest changes
you should use
git pull --rebase
instead of a plain git pull

You could avoid this by adding
HH_DIR="path to installation directory of html-help"
to custom.sh

Odd I could build. But then again I did so many rebuilds, perhaps I worked with a different patch
than what I eventually committed.
