I agree this method has its drawbacks. It was the only way I found to more or less integrate the docs into the main website with limited effort.
Derek's workaround can make your life easier to figure out in which document and section you are. You can link to these embedded pages directly when helping someone out. In that case though the link with the main page is lost again.
The better solution would be to fix this at docs generation already so the generated docs load the website's style. But this takes more time than I have available and no one else has done it.
