configure has difficulty finding libgoffice

Yes, that is a much better path. (The goffice-0.10 library caused a lot
of warnings and errors - deprecated styles, etc.)
I removed the existing goffice
$ sudo yum remove goffice
And then installed the older version of goffice. There is a slight
change in the package naming.
$ sudo yum install goffice08
$ sudo yum install goffice08-devel
Starting with a virgin copy of the gnucash 2.6.0 source, there were no
problems with configure, make, or make install.
The result is:
[user1 at hoho6 gnucash-2.6.0]$ gnucash --version
GnuCash 2.6.0
This copy was built from rev 38a0d33+ on 2014-01-19.
[user1 at hoho6 gnucash-2.6.0]$
