I don't think you have yet told us whether the problem you are seeing
is with 2.6.3 or HEAD.  As I said I have had no trouble with compiled
2.6.3 with xml, sqlite or mysql on 14.04.  This is with lidbi-dev
0.9.0.  I presume it is libdbi-dev that you are talking about.
