After further examination, I realize that it is using the g_value_set_ functions; so it seems quite self-explanatory now.

When browsing the source code and looking at the static void function qof_instance_get_property(), it was a bit puzzling deciphering what it was doing.  So the question is why is the function using g_value_set_* functions versus g_value_get_* functions or g_value_take_* functions?
