There’s lots of major work on the agenda. The problem is that nobody’s working on any of it.
I’d certainly slip-stream a rewrite of the QIF importer, but a completely new reports system would be worthy of a major release.
Extending the 5.x series for a few more years is the alternative to switching to year-based versions.
Please, please, please discuss your design and implementation plans here to get consensus agreement before you start writing code, then make your feature branch public and get frequent reviews. A major PR like either of those written in a vacuum is very unlikely to be merged.
