Hello,
The attached patch adds a range option for the auto decimal places
preference, combined with the necessary engine and util code that makes it
work. The user can specify from 1-8 decimal places, and if the user types a
number with no decimal point then the decimal point will be inserted according
to their request. The range option defaults to the number of decimal places
for the user's locale. The only problem is that the value in the
register which is printed in the cell is rounded to the locale's number of
decimal places, so if you try to test this with 4 auto decimal places but have
a locale which specifies 2, then if you enter 2343242, it will be parsed as
234.3242 and then rounded to 234.32. The rounding by locale happens in
xaccSPrintAmount().
Does it make sense to add another option for how these values are printed,
or is it reasonable to assume that a user will pick the number of auto decimal
places for their locale? In that case, it might be better to remove the
auto decimal places range option anyway, since currently the operation of it is
a little confusing, and always force the number of auto decimal places to be
the number of fractional digits specified by the locale.
