No, I didn;t suggest that you should.  I just thought I'd let you know, 
so you wouldn't be surprised if/when you fixed more bugs.   (By accident,
I had left kvp turned off for transactions in gnucash-1.6, and when I
turned it back on, the performance cratered.  Since kvp wasn't needed in
transations, I left it off in 1.6 (but it should be on in 1.7). Most of
the work in gnucash-1.7 was to fix kvp performance.)

p.s. I am trying to learn bonobo but its not easy.  Rather, its easy, but
I can't make it work :-( 

p.p.s. you wouldn't be interested in spinning ov kvp as its own separate
library?  Turns out other gnome projects are invneting/re-inventing
something similar but different.   Turns out there's a slow but certain
move to make all corba interfaces (e.g. in evolution) into kvp-like
things.
