The top-level source directory of CVS's sources contains a perl script called 
"make-gnucash-patch"... . Have you tried that one? Hm, now that I look at it, 
it just calls makepatch itself. But if you have it installed, then the 
make-gnucash-patch offers a whole lot of command line options and is probably 
all you need.
