I'm not sure what the warning was, but I'm pretty sure this was supposed
to be a deprecated portability routine.    In fact, *all* of the 
Dxacc routines were deprecated until one day someone decided D stood for
double, and goofed up this naming convention ... 

Maybe I need to review this routine, ... add a 'deprecated' note ...
