Middle of September?  I won't have much time to work on it again until
about August 10th.  The g2 version will read a data file, but doesn't
automatically open an account tree.  I need to work through the all the
plugin code (used to replace the mdi code), figure out how it works, and
then finish it.  I also just tried to open a register for the first time
and there are some problems with it.

Use gnome1.  The translation to gnome2 should be pretty straight forward
as long as you aren't using the clist or tree widgets.  Those are
depreceated in g2 but will still work.  They've been replaced with a
different MVC set of widgets in g2.
