Newbie question - gnc-prices

Hi, 

I just got Gnucash up and running.  I set up some accounts and now
want to have it update stock prices.  Unfortunately, gnc-prices
returns with errors like this:
Science and Technology: Lookup of YAHOO/pastx failed

The URL in Quote.pm seems to work fine through my browser, so it seems 
like the problem may be getting through the firewall.  I'm unabled to
find a way to set up the proxy preferences.  

Any suggestions appreciated.  I'm using gnucash 1.4.8 on Solaris8.
