problem installing 1.4.9

I am not able to install 1.4.8. This is on redhat 6.2. Do you how to
solve this rpm problem?

# rpm -Uvh gnucash-1.4.9-1.i386.rpm 
only packages with major numbers <= 3 are supported by this version of
RPM
error: gnucash-1.4.9-1.i386.rpm cannot be installed

# rpm -Uvh rpm-4.0-4.i386.rpm 
only packages with major numbers <= 3 are supported by this version of
RPM
error: rpm-4.0-4.i386.rpm cannot be installed

# rpm -q rpm
rpm-3.0.4-0.48



In general, I find that dependencies - when they don't work - are very
confusing. It was much easier when I used to download the emacs 18.54
tar files, figure out how to change the makefile, run make, fix the
errors, etc. than it it to resolve dependenciy issues.
