problem switching from 1.4.1 to 1.4.6

Um, I don't think that's the case here, but I'll review the files
again. unfortunately, the original data files all got dropped in
my (rather cluttered) home directory, so I had to try to sort out
the important ones from the remainder.

Well yes, I did do that. But when I uninstalled 1.4.6 on that other
machine and installed 1.4.1 in its place, voila! it worked!
