Well, I've found another occasion where this blows up. I guess it is
the same thing, but what I get is

Error: xaccSplitRebalance: no common split currencies
    Error: xaccSplitRebalance: account=Sequoia currency=USD security=
    Error: xaccSplitRebalance: account=Sequoia currency=Sequoia security=
gnucash: Transaction.c:956: xaccSplitRebalance: Assertion `0' failed.

Sequoia is a mutual fund. But, because the Quicken "opening balance"
was not zero I have a problem (Sequoia is a closed fund; my
father-in-law gave us shares as a wedding gift; hence the non-zero
"opening balance").

So, how can I fake out gnucash? I'd really like to make this work,
because Quicken has been getting more and more flakey on us this past
year; we're stuck with Mac Quicken '98 because we have an orphaned Mac
clone that won't upgrade past MacOS 8.1, so we can't upgrade the Mac
therefore we can't upgrade Quicken without, of course, buying hardware
:-(

I'm not averse to editing the QIF file directly.
