Segfault, GC 1.6.0 - MD 8.0

Having the same problem as Paul Poulain last month.

Everything was fine for awhile, then (one day, duh..) opening some of the 
accounts - with no prejudice to type of account - it crashes.

Only thing my feeble memory can see of changes was a change of 'file 
permissions' (security issue...) that now has been changed back to 'normal* 
AFAIK.

Any help out there? Need my files!
Any way of going back to 1.4 with 'translated files'?
Will a 1.6.1 help? (I'm having probs finding all the dependencies packages 
for the RH rpm package, any Mandrake rpm package coming up to help?)
