compiling gnucash - guiles "require.scm" location

I have been trying to compile gnucash. I
run".configure" normally and then "make".
However,during "make" there is an error message
saying that"require.scm" in guile can't be found.I
notice the directories being searched are not the
correct path.

"require.scm" is in:
/usr/share/guile/1.4/slib 

How do I set that path?
