New language version (was: Re: (no subject))

Hi developers,

I am very happy with 1.4.12 so far and I'm contemplating to make a Swiss
German version (possibly working on 1.6). Existing German translation may
be a starting point but things are named really different here.

Is there some guideline to get me started?
