changing opening balance

Hi,
        All of a sudden when I reconcile my accounts the opening balance
is not what the closing balance was last month. That is, last month
everything balanced, and this month when I open up RECONCILE the opening
balance is not what it was a month ago. Is it possible to change the
opening balance?
        This is with 1.4.10 on RH 6.2.
