Library Path Problem?

I am currently running Red Hat 7.1 and am attempting to install 
gnucash.  I do not have any previous versions installed.  I have 
installed the required prerequisite programs and libraries, but am 
recieing the following error upon attempting to start gnucash.
gnucash: error while loading shared libraries: libgal.so.8: cannot load 
shared object file: No such file or directory
I believe that when I installed gal-0.8 the links to shared libraries 
were not set correctly.  The libgal.so.8.0.1 is located in opt/gnome/lib.
Help!
