Install problems on Suse 7.2

I'm having lots of trouble installing on Suse 7.2. It has Gnome 1.4, but I've 
tried the gnucash source (1.6.2) and it complains of "no glib-config file" 
during ./configure. The rpm's have other weird dependency problems. gnucash 
1.6.1 rpm needs Guppi, okay. But then for example Guppi-0.35.5-1 needs 
libgnomeprint.so.11, libguile.so.6, libreadline.so.4, libtermcap.so.2, and 
libVFlib2.so.24.  I can't get gnomeprint (source) installed because of "no 
*-config file" problem again. I do have guile and it has libguile.so.9 is in 
/usr/lib. Can anyone get me started?
