After an already long enough use of the new 1.6.x
version of GnuCash, I decided it's time for me to ask
somewhere a question which bothers me for that time
since. Hope this is a place for it ;)
This is my question: can anyone give a reasonable and
TRUE motive for the ugly and almost idiot turn over in
the database format which GnuCash now uses ? I mean I
really don't see ANY reason at all for this
absolutelly idiotic XML format !!!!! Can anyone
explain me why is this better than the old format ?
And try to find a reason for the (at least) 10 times
larger file on disk which takes now my same data ?!?!?
(I'm not stressed out by lack of disk space ;-), it's
just the principle that matters here to me).
I can't put the finger somewhere in peticular, but I
almost am sure now the program works slower than 1.4.x
series, and that is because this stupid XML ...
And maybe someone gives me a REAL clue of XML (I don't
need repeated here the HUGE HYPE which nowadays
surrounds it everywhere; I haven't found a true an
real need for it by now...)
I'm sorry if I sound that pissed off, but this it how
I feal about this new stuff, and since I'm (still)
using GnuCash on a day-to-day basis, I became that
angry already...
At least if there where the opportunity to use back
the old database format ... I personally would have
preferred that one if it where possible.
Thanx for any feedback (if any...).
P.S. I really liked a lot the new look-and-feel of the
1.6.x over the old 1.4.x
