Transaction report error?

Hi, I'm really new to gnucash, but it seems like a very nice app. 
Although, I am having one problem.  When I try to run a Transaction
Report, a screen pops up that says...

No matching transactions found
No transactions were found that match the given time interval and account
selection.

There was nowhere for me to enter any dates or accounts.  What I did to
achieve this was highlight the account in the main account screen, then
select Reports:Transaction Report.  Any help is greatly appreciated.  I
couldn't find anything in the manual that tole me how to run this report,
only what info it could give.
