unusable gnucash

I've got qt installed, qt2.2.4, qt2.3.1 and qt3.0.3 and have never experienced 
this problem. Just went thru the steps of creating a new account. I rather 
doubt it's qt, but am curious to find out why Zenon thinks it might be...
