reports broken on RH9, part 2

Unfortunately, since I don't know Scheme, I don't know what is a
"similar issue". I don't find any other references to transaction.scm in
the archives except my own. I did find a couple of places where the
string "()" occurred in transaction.scm without a leading ' mark, but
changing those like the patch to main.scm did made it worse. What
exactly should I be looking for, either in transaction.scm or in the
mailing list archives?
