How to handle asset management fees - solution

Last week I asked how to enter asset management fees for a 401(k)
account, which appear on the statement as a sale of shares. When I
entered them as a sale of shares in gnc, they were interpreted as a
return on my investment, which is wrong since the money from the sale
was not intended for me. An ugly solution which keeps the return numbers
right is to enter it as a sale of (n) shares for $0.
I'm sure this issue will come up again so I thought I might mention it.
A better solution would be to have the portfolio report look for the
"fee" field in the register, and ignore the cash value.
