End of year file?

Hello,
It's been a while since I used Quicken (thanks to Gnucash), but I am wondering 
if I can make a 'year end file' in Gnucash?  It takes all of the previous 
years data and places it in another file (or disk) so that your active 
banking file is smaller.

does this feature exist?
