Ahh, my bad.  I thought I recalled it being 1.6.1.  Either way,
it's still a 1.6-based system, and we clearly haven't fixed all
the 1.6isms yet.  But unfortunately, becuase scheme is lazy-evaluated,
there is no way to know this until you hit the code path. :(
